Truth Be Told

Whoever that creates and spreads lies about the death of Teoh Beng Hock. Your work is so amateurish and please, you can excite me a bit with you work by coming forward with your documentary and whatever evidence that you have and made a formal report at MACC against those PKR leaders who you have alleged with corruptions. After all, MACC works at the speed of light when it involves PKR people. Don't you want justice serve just like the very purpose of exposing the so called details in your blog. Do you realize that you are doing a big favour to Malaysian by ripping off the corrupted leaders? Who's next? Khir Toyo? He is one that needs thoroughly check. Don't you agree?

Kannichikan Yakiniku Restaurant

You know, this is a great place with great food. I never know I could like Japanese / Korean food so much I overspent.

When I was told that we were having Japanese BBQ, I was like well okay, maybe RM40 to RM60 for this meal for my portion. Heck, I ended up paying RM90.00 and all the time I was there, It was like can I order another round and it is usually a big no-no when you dine with 2 ladies. Surprisingly, they could not get enough like me so we have order after order which was the reason why the bill added up to RM270.00 for three of us.

The restaurant is near Souled-Out, another well-known fine dining place, in Sri Hartamas. The address is:
No. 42, Jalan 28/70A
Desa Sri Hartamas
50480 Kuala Lumpur
Telephone / Fax: 03-2300 8829

We tried out the traditional Korean alcoholic drink which I find it to my liking. It is white colour like milk and I was thinking to myself why would a BBQ restaurant serves milk to customer. Ha! If only I can read Korean. The packaging fools you because it does not look like average alcohol packaging. Look at the photo, do you think it looks like a bottle of beer to you?

It tastes right for me if you know that I am a person who hardly consume alcohol and I don't like the taste of beer. Well, it tastes a bit like red wine but it has a fruity tinge to it and mild wine taste. It made of broiled rice and water so it can't be harmful right?

This place is not big. The moment we entered, it was full house and I could see Japanese or / and Korean people taken up most of the space. The place makes you feel not so Malaysia at all. There are Japanese comics and magazines for your reading. The deco is simple and the place is equipped with exhaust hoods - one for each table. I would say that this is ideal to get together after work for unwind and good food.

The place serves Japanese (or Korean) style barbecue and soon as we done with our order. A pot of hot burning charcoals was delivered to our table and placed directly beneath exhaust hood. Soon after that, the Korean pancake arrived.

Basically, it is a vegetable pancake fried and made fresh. Not long after that, our orders came and take a look at the photos below. Our orders were Value Set C that came with chicken thigh, lamb rack, squid, king prawn, and lettuce and Seafood Set that came with king prawn, scallop, and squid. Why so many seafood? Well, three of us just love seafood so much and at that time, we didn't know YET barbecue beef can be so tasty.

We get busy with the barbeue and honestly, the portion isn't up to our expectation and those meats were sliced too thin to my opinion. Anyway, the meats were well-marinated and you could just eat without any sauce and the taste is superb.

Speaking of the sauce, it goes very well with the meat I must say. It tastes like light soy sauce but not so salty like the usual Chinese one. It has sweet taste to it.

Maybe it was just me but the sizzling sound made me very thirsty and I drank more and more Korean traditional wine.

The barbecue part is easy and you don't need to be a barbecue expert. Everybody can do it. Just chuck the meat onto the gridiron. flip over a few times and that's it.

Here's what you do: Lettuce spread open in your palm. One or two slices of barbecued meat in the middle with a slide of garlic. Wrap it. Dip a bit of sauce (up to you) and then pop it into your mouth. I must say that the garlic actually enhance the taste.

We really enjoy Japanese barbecue so much and we order a few more rounds.

Beef shortrib set. Shortrib is one of the popular parts of the beef that is meatier and tender, according to Wikipedia.

I did not know beef could be so tastier. No, I have never tasted beef like that and I could not get enough. The shortrib is fresh and well-marinated and it doesn't have raw beef smell. It did not take long to finish it. Wanting to try more, we flipped through the menu again to check out more about beef.

We ordered a Special Set from the menu and it came with ribeye, shortrib, skirt flank, kimchi and bean sprouts. The set is good for 1 person and the price for this set is RM50.00!

I was looking at the dish and thinking to myself what's the taste like eating it raw. No, I did not try.

Despite the good taste of barbecue, I would like to say that all the set that we ordered did not manage to fill our stomach satisfactorily and at this point, our stomach were half full and we could still eat more. But we reckoned that the charges was too high for us and we might have to eat instant noodles for the rest of the month so we stopped there. Had one last order: Spciy miso soup with seafood and rice.

The soup is really nice this one. Mixed it with the rice and gobbled it down. Ah! Happy me.

Free fruit from the restaurant. I definitely will come back to dine here in the future.

One Question That Matters To Us

I watched the TV news just now.

So many questions surrounding the death of Teoh Beng Hock. What? Why? When? Who? How? and more... Nevertheless, there is only one question that really matters to everyone of us.

Would the justice be upheld?

Rest in peace.

Master Of The Clown

He has gone completely mad or he has never been sane all these years or he is just plain brainless! Read here.

It beats me to think that why would any reasonable person liken ISA punishment to the suspension without allowance for a year?

Can you accept to be imprisoned inhumanely without trial for 2 years or longer? Being denied a chance to know what was it that you have done wrong and to defend yourself accordingly. Or you would rather be suspended for 1 year without allowance and still enjoy your personal freedom? Such as dining at KFC or Tony Roma as and when you like? The choice is obvious. There is no way to compare personal freedom and temporary monetary loss. A 5 year-old would know better than Khir Toyo. By the way, such comment is really inappropriate and insulting to those who are forcefully detained under ISA.

Oh God, he was managing the State of Selangor for a good 8 years! I am all fumed that we have to endure this kind of non-sense and stupidity from him. I hope there will be further actions on BALKIS, luxury estate, etc. He deserves to be behind steel bars when proven guilty.

Stop hiding and giving those silly excuses and be a man to face and clear your name. If you did not do it, why not face off with SELCAT.

Khir: "Hoh! Thanks! It is about time I slap myself with a broom! I am glad to do that!"

Bubba Gump Shrimp Co

Bubba Gump. Well, the concept of the restaurant comes from the ever so famous Forrest Gump which I doubt you need introduction. The thing is I have watched this movie in numerous occasions and it has to be one of the personal favourite movies. It relates you to the histories and past happenings and no, this one don't get you fall asleep at all.

In case you don't know, Bubba is Forrest Gump's best friend while he was serving the army in Vietnam. In his dying breath, Forrest promised to take care of his family and to pursuit the dream of having a shrimp boat together with him and all that. This part of memory actually escaped me until one day I walked in The Curve and come across Bubba Gump. I have to tell you that it feels weird (very weird) having knowing that part of the story in a movie actually becomes real and right before your eyes and yes, the curiosity get the better of me. I walked in with Ah Chuin to have it a try and thinking that maybe Forrest Gump is sitting at the cash counter? Ha ha.

I will spare you the long story because I want this to be the quick posting. The food, ambiance, decorations and services are very good but the charges is on the high side, my opinion.

Nice place to chill out with friends and for your gathering. It has bar counter and I always like the deco very very much.

While the deco is nice, it is nothing but crappy restaurant if the food isn't up to expectation. Well, so far I haven't disappointed at all.

I am a shrimp person. I mean I really like shrimps. It has to do with the fact that I grow up in Sandakan and spend a long long time over there. Being a town that is close to the sea and all that, Sandakan gives you the best seafood and I was eating shrimps almost every other day when I was living there. And you get shrimp quite cheap.

And here I am, at the place that specializes in shrimp cousine in town. I would not give this place a miss.

First dish is Shrimper's Net Catch. It comes in garlic spice and cajun spice. This is an order I would not miss every time I eat here. You can order mixed flavours. Well I like the spicy one. Squeeze the lemon, it enhance the taste!

The thing about shrimp is that (ahem... clear my throat) as long as it is fresh and not over cooking it. It is just great to be eaten. You can just grill / stir fried / steam it and do it in any style of cooking. It is like taste from heaven.

Second dish is Cajun Shrimp. Well, I really like this because I don't need to peel and it tastes heavenly. Damn, what it is with me that I keep using the heaven word in describing taste! According to the menu, it is prepared in hot and spicy cajun butter sauce. I really love this one.

Bubba's Baked Seafood Rice. It is way too cheesy to my liking and you know that kind of feeling that when you are having something too much it becomes harder to swallen down your throat. Half way eating the rice I feel like shovel the whole plate down Khir Toyo's throat over the exposed luxurious bungalow. Anyway, I think cheese lover would love / appreciate this dish much better than I do.

Shrimpin 'Dippin' Broth. As indicates by its name, it is shrimp in spicy broth and it comes with french bread for dipping. Well, the broth not so spice after all but this is a nice dish anyway.

Tossed Chicken Cobb and it comes with big portion good for 2 persons. It has chopped tomatoes, gorgonzola cheese, hard boiled egg, bacon, raspberry vinaigrette, grilled chicken and avocado.

If you like pop corn, would you want to try Best Ever Popcorn Shrimp? I would say save your money for better things. For me, I hope this item never existed in the menu because it is basically, fried shrimps in popcorn box and the popcorn box is half empty... Let me just say that I had better fried shrimps.

Alabama Mud Pie would be nice if it comes in smaller portion because me and Ah Chuin did not get to finish it despite the fact that we both love dessert.

Oh yeah, don't you think that me and Ah Chuin had all these foods shown here in one visit. These photos are combined from several visits.

Pattaya Thai Seafood

I said before in one of the posts - Chang Rai Style Restaurant that there is one Thai restaurant that worth recommending. Here you go.

Don't ask me how to get there because I don't know. The direction... well, let me say it is just too complicated for me to explain here. Use your GPS. Here is the address: Pattaya Thai Seafood, No. 21, Jalan 3/101C, Cheras Business Centre, Cheras, 56100 Kuala Lumpur. Mobile phone: 012-679 4461.

The restaurant has all the tables and chairs arranged nicely in the central compound. It has an indoor shop but you don't find tables and chairs for customers in the shop. What the heck, I say sit outside better.

If I was the owner of the shop, should I be thanking the developer for planting a tall palm three right in front of the shop? Look at the photo. Alright not really close from this angle but trust me, it is ridiculously close to the shop and tall as well.

First dish - the Mango Kerabu. It comes with fried dried shrimp and sugar sprinkled on top. Ah! crunchy, sweet, sour, and we ordered another round on that night.

Cockles. They are grilled and just my type of food.

The pineapple fried rice. The taste... I give it 8.5 out of 10!

Stir-fried vegetable.

This is called fried salted egg chicken strips. Just simply yummy. We ordered another round.

The famous steamed fish in sour and lime soup and I am hungry already by looking at the photo.

This dish is not to my liking. It has strong smell of parsley and it is seafood wrapped in aluminium foil. It is so forgettable I don't remember its name.

Overall, it is a happy meal and thumps up!

Misia - Everything

I can't find word to describe but I just love this song so much since many many years ago. Share with you here.

I am totally clueless as to what the lyric is about but the music is just... one word - beautiful. The voice is just natural and not too powerful.

The song is called Everything.

You Are What You Say

Call me bigot or stereotyper but there is politician with certain traits that I find annoying whenever he / she makes statements in the press. I am biased at times (guilty as charged!) but I just can't see the relevance between the statement made with the issue that is being handled / discussed.

Is my intelligence slipped down the drain or is it my reasoning ability that failed on me. Am I out of my mind? Last I check, I am pretty much a sane person so is must be the politician's problem.

Unless what he said was wrongfully quoted in the news, otherwise I have this to say to him: Nazri, you are one politician with peanut-sized brain (or no brain at all). It is the world greatest mystery that you are a minister. You are so laughable with your statement you beat Jim Carry even without making a joke.

Damn, this sort of thing only happen in Bolehland.

Rakyat, don't blame on the public transport operators that you get bad services all this while because our transport fares are low and the public transport operation costs have been increasing. On top of that, the Government cannot take action on public transport operators who give bad services to us NOW because they are providing the service at the very low fares. With the increases, Government can take action on transport operators when they give bad service to us. Huh? What? Yeah, you read me right. That's exactly what was said by Nazri.

If I said something like that to my boss, I would be sacked immediately.

Statement 1: Increasing operation costs over the years.

Generally I agree with this statement even though there is no statistical report or factual data to substantiate this claim. The fact is prices of raw material have gone up so inevitably the increase in the operation costs on the part of services / finished goods for end users / consumers.

Statement 2: Increasing operation costs + low public transport fares.

Low public transport fares! Good for you that you don't come out with the blood-vomiting excuse such as our fares is still the lowest than country A, B, C, and D made popular by your brainless counterparts. You are no better anyway.

I would like to know on what basis that you claim that the public transport fares have been low? On what ground you conclude that the drivers' salary have gone up? When you said the last increase on the public transport fares was 1 May 2005, do you refer to LRT fares? bus fares? taxi fares? what fares? I have been using public transports. LRT has gone up a few times without informing the commuters and at the current charges and service, they suck big time. Bus fares have gone up too after May 2005. I am not so sure of the last taxi fares increase but when you claim that the taxi fares is low, why are there people want to work as a taxi driver and it looks like the taxi licences will be increased in view of huge number of retrenchment. Let's not kid ourselves that the taxi fares is low. Guess how much is the fares for 15km or less between my house in Melaka and Melaka Hospital? RM25. You called that cheap?!

Statement 3: Increasing operation costs + low public transport fares = bad public transport services.

Screw you! Public transport fares have never been low and commuters are still getting bad transportation services ALL THE TIME.

The bus services are erratic and unreliable and sometimes, they never show up at all. This is a common occurrence. Complaints after complaints from public but what are the improvements? Promise after promise made by bus operators but they never happen. Transport Minister has been sleeping one after another.

The service of LRT / train has never been upgraded over the years. There are huge crowds at the peak times but sadly, the only "service" that we get is the shouting of security guards at the station "Masuk lagi! Lagi masuk sikit! Tolong masuk sikit! Orang lain nak balik juga!" You pay the fares but you get to be squeezed by other passengers uncomfortably. Do you not think that is huge crowd of passengers in every LRT station? Seriously, we pay the fares for travel comfort, not to be feel like a can of sardine.

The cab drivers are the worst. How many times I had been turned down by cab driver on blood-vomiting excuses like 'Sana jam. Tak pergi.", "Ohh, Saya tak pergi sana la." I feel like give them a big slap on the face most of the time. They just drove pass you even there is no passenger in the cab? It is not that they don't have business but they REFUSE business!

I hardly use train /KTM so no comments on that.

Statement 4: Increasing operation costs + low public transport fares = bad public services. So government needs to help public transport operators to increase fares = public transport service can be improved and action can be taken if service not up to expectation.

What the fuck! The fact is most of the Companies in Malaysia are facing the same situations here - increasing operational costs - but that don't give them any excuses to provide bad services to the customer. In fact, this is the time they need to better their service so that customers are happy and keep coming back to them. Some even go the extra miles to introduce lower fares in order to stay afloat in times of fierce competition and bad economy. In business sense of the world, the strongest survives and weakest falls. If those public transportation companies are unable keep up with the customers' expectations and service standards. They can fold and then leave the market / industry. There are other companies wiling to take up the void and ready to provide reasonable services. There are huge monetary returns if one company is care enough to provide reasonable service to the commuters.

Let's no argue with the fact that there are HUGE numbers of passengers / commuters that relies on buses, cabs, trains, and LRT to commute daily within and in and out of Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and central region. Go survey at the bus stations, train stations, and LRT stations you would be surely surprised at the huge crowd and then ask them what they think about the transport services. I am sure that high percentage would tell you that currently, the service sucks big time and ask them again has the transport service improved over the year? Have them been happy at all or noticed the so called 'improvement' in public transport services that the Government / Transport operators promised over and over again. They would tell you NO! A BIG NO! I do not have the numbers to back me up on this but I can tell you this confidently because I am the user so are my friends and friends' friends. Do you dare to conduct a survey on satisfaction level of public on transport services?

Regardless of the fares, it is a reasonable expectation that Government takes whatever action necessary (within its power) when it comes to handling bad public transport services. Do you mean that we Rakyat cannot depend on Government to intervene and take action when we made complaints about the bad services? From the Rakyat's perspective, that doesn't make sense right, Nazri? Why do we need you for at the first place?

Don't get your role confused! You are supposed to be helping Rakyat to get things improved not the other way around.

Be careful with what you have to say because whatever you say, it is reflective of your level of maturity, intelligence, and capability in handling national matters. Sadly, you failed miserably.

Don't get me wrong. I do not oppose increase in public transport fares if it is properly justified.

By the way, I have not seen the Transport Minister has been effective in his role.

Said Who Muscular Guy Can't Act

I did not know what went on my mind on that day. I usually don't think too highly about action-oriented movie. In fact, I will skip as many as possible in recent years. For me, the action movie is like no-brainer to me (Sorry if I have offended you, just my opinion). The kind of movie that I would avoid at best. The minute the movie is over, you forget about what you have just watched. It's like bang-shot-boom-punch-crash-run-hero-takes-all. Err, what was the movie about I just watched?

But when I caught a glimpse at the front cover with its reflective movie title: JCVD, I automatically picked it up and read the storyline. Surprisingly, I like it - the storyline - but then I was skeptical. Can this movie be as good as the storyline? I haven't researched on the review and this could be one of the many disappointments of the year. Wait, there isn't any review because this movie was not even showed in Malaysia. I did not put it down. My gut feeling tells me. This one could be different - it must be!

What the heck!If it is really bad, turn off the player and go to bed early. So I bought the DVD.

Jean-Claude Van Damme. My impression of him is that he did a lot of action movies which would make me feel (Sorry! Van Damme) like puking. Just like Stellone, Arnold, and the like. Their muscular images are too prominent or too strong. They are the hero who take on bad guys and the more human they attempted to be in the movies, the more heartless those movie critique are to their acting skills. You hardly think that anyone of them can be versatile in movie. Can you imagine Stellone acting in Shakespeare? As much as he wants too but he can't. They are born to do action movies. Taking a more serious acting job is suicidal to their career. Like throwing money to the sea lah!

After finished watching the movie, I was blown away. How come this movie not shown in Malaysia? My oh my Jean-Claude I was taken aback this time. You did very well this time around. I can't believe I say it but I can see you now in the new perspective: You can definitely handle more serious acting job that the other gang. More human, fragile, vulnerable, and regular-guy role.

So here you go, JCVD is, in the movie, himself with a dying / down-the-hill career. He is down-and-out in his life. Financially broke. Entangled in custody with his ex-wife over his daughter. His luck really bad even Steven Seagal pinched his role. Seeking inner peace in the time of chaos, he flies off to his home country - Brussel - but unfortunately he accidentally walks into a robbery in a post office. What makes it worse is that the police mistaken him tobe the one who robs the bank and holds hostage! Needless to say, the robbers try to make use of him to escape.

If you are expecting Van Damme flexing his muscle punching bad guys out of day light and that's what you really like, well, don't bother to watch this movie. But if you are in for a good movie - comedy drama with a little bit of acting from Van Damme. Don't miss this.

Overall, this movie is superb in many criteria. I would say it is the best Van Damme movie to-date! In many level, this movie is not to be missed. You see Van Damme in better light and of course, how can I forget the director - Mabrouk El Mechri. Look forward to his new movie.

Said who muscular guy can't act! Don't expect oscar standard kind of performance. You'll be pleasantly surprised of Jean-Claude in this movie. I know I did.
